Side Tours - Giant Mine Townsite:
Once a thriving mining community, the old Giant Mine townsite was abandoned in 2005. Several of the old houses, which date back to the 1940s, have been maintained and are being used as cottages and bed and breakfast establishments, furthering the tourist potential of the area. The area has become a haven for Yellowknife's old buildings and many historical structures have been relocated to this area. Inside one of the houses there will be a display showing what life was like for families at the townsite, with vintage furniture and housewares on display.
